About us

Hello!

My name is Hadi and I am the owner and founder of Java Turtle Lodge.

I have humble beginnings, having grown up in the local village and worked as a local fisherman. I opened my first home stay in 2011. from there, I learnt English and built my way up and in 2017 bought the land and renovated what is now Java Turtle Lodge, with no expense spared.

Now, Java Turtle Lodge is a pillar of the community with proceeds going towards my local education program and charity.

Our lodges and suites

Java Turtle Lodge is comprised of 2 lodges and 4 junior suites, all of which are equipped with en-suites, air-conditioning and 5G WiFi.

Our grounds are groomed immaculately and filled with local flora to give our guests the feel of the rich forests which surround the area.

The local beach is a short walk through our grounds and 3 locally sourced, home-cooked meals are prepared whenever it suits you best.

Sukamade Beach turtle conservation program

Only accessible by jeep, Sukamade beach is 97km west of Banyuwangi and is the situated within Meru Betiri National Park, the hidden gem of East Java.

Meru Beteri boasts some of the most diverse flora and fauna of all of Indonesia including banteng, leopard, muntjac, wild pig and the supposed last hope for the fabeled Javan tiger.

The Sukamade Beach conservation program has been active since 1972, and has since tagged 3000 sea turtles. The vast beach is a hotspot for turtle nesting, and almost every night of the year turtles can be observed laying eggs. Eggs are then collected by the rangers to be nurtured in special hatcheries and released, to ensure the best possible chances of survival.

Once incubated and released, the turtles that reach adulthood will return back to Sukamade in years to come thus continuing the cycle which has been occurring for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
